A Table from a Single Piece – 4-Meter Oak Slab

Some trees don't just provide wood, but also a message. This oak slab was over 4 meters long and strong enough to create a complete dining table from a single piece – without gluing, without assembling multiple planks.

Brass Instead of Epoxy Resin

A few years ago, I would have filled the natural cracks in the slab with epoxy resin. From today's perspective, I wouldn't do that anymore. Today, I only work with what the material itself brings: real wood, real metal. I incorporated brass into this table – visible, honest, without plastic.

A Saying That Stays

I incorporated a saying into the tabletop that perfectly suits this piece of wood:

"Family is like a tree. The branches may grow in different directions, but the roots hold everything together."

A table where a family gathers – supported by a material that itself grew for decades before becoming this piece.

Material & Craftsmanship

  • Solid oak wood – a continuous slab, approx. 4 meters long
  • Brass inlay instead of epoxy resin – handcrafted, not cast
  • Engraved saying as a personal detail
  • Surface finished with Rubio Monocoat

This piece shows how my work has evolved over the years: away from fillers like epoxy resin, towards solutions made entirely of real material – wood and metal, nothing in between.
